President Rodrigo Chaves Expresses Gratitude for CATIE's Support to the New Hospital in Turrialba
- CATIE collaborated in the provision of drinking water for the new hospital.
August 24, 2023 - President Rodrigo Chaves of Costa Rica extended his gratitude for CATIE's contribution to the new William Allen Hospital during the speech he delivered following his visit to Turrialba.
CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) supported the project from its initial stages, particularly by providing access to the water supply that serves the new hospital.
On Thursday, August 24, President Chaves visited Turrialba as part of World National Parks Day.
The President took part in a special event at the Guayabo National Monument, a World Heritage site in Civil Engineering, and took the opportunity to congratulate the people of Turrialba on their 120th anniversary as a canton.
Muhammad Ibrahim, Director-General of CATIE, participated in the special event held at the Hospital and received greetings from the President.
"Many thanks to the institutions that collaborated with dedication. Those who embraced the patriotic spirit and offered their support. A heartfelt thank you to CATIE and Dr. Ibrahim for providing potable water," expressed President Chaves.
The Director-General reiterated CATIE's commitment to Turrialba and congratulated those involved in establishing this novel and advanced hospital that will improve the well-being of the community.
