Buyers Trade Mission facilitates exchange and identifying potential partners for CATIE

Participating in the Buyers Trade Mission (BTM) at the end of September by representatives from the Environmental Economics and Sustainable Agribusiness Unit (UEAAS/EfD) of CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) led to the identification of potential partners. Among them, the My Greens project, which could facilitate the development of projects between Spain and the countries where CATIE operates. Adriana Escobedo, a specialist in sustainable agribusiness at CATIE, shared that, among other aspects, the My Greens My Greens project is interested in developing an exchange of experiences in the fields of rural development, economics, employment, or entrepreneurship between Spain and the Latin American region. "The BTM is highly relevant for exporting companies in Costa Rica, being the largest negotiation space in the region," explained Escobedo.
This year, the BTM had the participation of 500 companies and 300 buyers, who had the opportunity to hold 30-minute business meetings to get to know each other and seek potential business partnerships.

In 1998, the exterior commerce promotor from Costa Rica, known as Procomer, started the Buyers Trade Mission, becoming the most important business matchmaking event in Costa Rica and the largest in Central America. The event promotes exports and business linkages in the agricultural, food, industry, and service sectors of Costa Rican companies, highlighting the characteristics that increase their differentiation and value, according to information shared by Procomer.
