CATIE stands out as the second best university in Costa Rica
- The Ranking of Costa Rican Universities of AD Scientific Index 2024 places it in that position at national level.
October 25, 2023. In the most recent AD Scientific Index 2024 report, CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) is positioned in second place, among 29 universities in Costa Rica, included in this ranking. This recognition highlights the institution's work in the academic and research fields.
CATIE also occupies the number one position among the three institutions analyzed, according to the h-index.
This ranking is based on the h-index, which is calculated based on the number of times an article has been cited at least h times. To have a high h-index, an academic must have published a large number of articles and received a large number of citations.
Muhammad Ibrahim, general director of CATIE, expressed that it is very valuable for the Center to be highlighted in this ranking and to occupy a space among the top positions. "This reflects the effort we make daily to continue developing quality research that contributes to the Inclusive Green Development of the country and the region of Latin America and the Caribbean," he said.
The The AD Scientific Index stands out as the only ranking system that analyzes the distribution of scientists in an institution, offering rankings at the country, continent and global level of all academic institutions. This ranking not only highlights a university's areas of excellence, but also the effectiveness of the institutions' scientist recruitment policies. This reveals the ability of institutions to attract renowned scientists and maintain an environment conducive to the development and retention of scientific talent.
