- An academic exchange providing students with a comprehensive educational experience in an international setting
CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) had the honor of welcoming a group of professors and students from Colorado State University, United States, who visited the campus to learn more about its innovative research and education programs.
During their visit, Dr. Luis Pocasangre, CATIE's Director General, welcomed the group at the institution's iconic Henry Wallace Main Building. The discussion centered on advancements in coffee and cacao genetic improvement programs, highlighting their role in reducing pesticide use due to the hybrids' resistance to pests and diseases. "Hosting international students not only strengthens our external outreach but also allows us to share the impact of our work in research, education, and sustainability," emphasized Dr. L.E. Pocasangre.
Eliécer Vargas, Coordinator of CATIE's Study Abroad Program , noted that the visit focused on key topics such as sustainability, tropical agriculture, climate change, and conservation, offering students an immersive experience that blends theory with practice.
