Academic master’s degrees go more in depth into and update knowledge to conduct research that generates more knowledge. For this reason, they become a knowledge-generating engine.  At least half of the student’s academic load must be dedicated to research activities, which can include workshops, seminars, research or thesis projects, directed research, thesis guidance and the actual thesis.

This modality ends with a research project or thesis, which the student must defend before a review committee. The preparation of the thesis must be part of the normal study plan, with credits, assigned hours and deadlines for the presentation of progress reports. These studies lead to the academic degree of Magister Scientiae.

Any student who possesses at least a university bachelor’s degree from a recognized university can pursue an academic master’s program at CATIE. Students must have an entrance profile established in the enrollment or admission requirements.  This program generally has a duration of two years, where the student must pass at least 33 academic credits, which can be through certificate programs and graduate specializations mentioned above, in cases where these are stipulated. In some cases, this can be developed through an individual academic process.  It also requires the student to pass at least 35 research credits (thesis project and actual thesis).

Our education program includes the following academic Master’s degrees:
