Who are we?
CLADA counts with a group of researchers and collaborators that come from different fields of research and development processes. Each member of our team has diverse experiences working with environmental issues.
DIRECTOR |
Róger Madrigal is Senior Researcher for the IDEA Program at the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) and Center Director and Senior research fellow for the Environment for Development Central America center. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Freiburg in Germany. His Ph.D. dissertation is titled “Collective action towards the use and management of natural resources in Costa Rica”. He is the academic coordinator of the M.Sc Program in Economics, Development and Climate Change at CATIE. His current research deals with community-based management of water resources in the face of climate change. He has also experience with the design and implementation of payments for ecosystem services schemes and incentives for increasing compliance with regulations in small-scale fisheries and turtle marine management. RESEARCHER MARIELA MORALES |
Mariela holds a title as an Engineer in Business Administration, with a focus in foreign trade from the Contemporary University of Chile, a title as a Commercial Engineer from the Arturo Prat University in Chile, and a master’s degree in Environmental Socioeconomics from CATIE. She has worked for over 17 years in the creation and management of social, economic, and environmental tools, through processes of development and capacity building in the vulnerable regions of Chile, Peru, Costa Rica, Argentina, and Bolivia. RESEARCHER |
Grégoire is a physicist, a geomatician, and a senior scientist of the French agricultural research and international cooperation organization (CIRAD). Leclerc has been involved in natural resource and watershed management research for over 18 years while working for international research organizations in Latin America, France, and Africa. He holds ample experience in international cooperation project management in developing countries, and has published two books and 25 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Since 2011, he is a prominent CIRAD scientist, in CATIE’s Climate Change and Watersheds Program, and is a co-lead researcher in the project FUTURAGUA. Tel: +(506) 2558-2327 |
