Forest Ecologist with a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, England.
Program Leader for Production and Conservation in Forests for the department and academic coordinator of the CATIE Master’s Program in the Management and Conservation of Forests and Biodiversity and a founding member of CATIE’s graduate faculty.

Diego Delgado
Agricultural Engineer with a Masters in Silviculture and Management and Conservation of Tropical Forests and Biodiversity from CATIE.
He has been a member of the department since 1996 and is in charge of the CLIMIFORAD project, as well as the coordination of the long-term research project in the permanent sample plots. He is a professor on the faculty of CATIE’s international masters program.

Bernal Herrera
Costa Rican forest engineer graduate of the National University of Heredia, Costa Rica.
He obtained his master's degree in Silvicultural Management of Tropical Forests at CATIE. He has a Ph.D. in Natural Resources from the University of Freiburg, Germany.
Regional Vice-president for Mesoamerica on the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management. He is co-director of the Kenton Miller Latin American Chair for Protected Areas and Biological Corridors. For over 15 years he has made a strong commitment to the preservation of nature through research, education and their integration into decision making.

Lindsay Canet
Costa Rican biologist and graduate of the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, with a Masters in Management and Conservation of Tropical Forests and Biodiversity from CATIE.
She is on the faculty of CATIE’s Graduate School. Canet simultaneously serves as coordinator of the Thematic Interest Group on Biological Corridors for the Mesoamerican Society for Biology and Conservation and as liaison for the IUCN International Connectivity Conservation Network for Mesoamerica. With over 10 years of experience, she currently serves as a specialist in Protected Areas and Biological Corridors at CATIE.

Yuri Martínez
Colombian Agroforestry Engineer and Social Management specialist from the University of Nariño. She obtained a master's degree in Management and Conservation of Tropical Forests and Biodiversity with a specialization in Development Practice at CATIE.
She is part of the team for the Kenton Miller Latin American Chair for Protected Areas and Biological Corridors. She has served as a consultant in local government positions and in the private sector, and she has expertise in research and university teaching at recognized schools in southwestern Colombia.

Ronnie de Camino
Chilean forestry engineer and economist. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Freiburg, Germany.
He heads the Territorial Forest Management Chair at CATIE while presiding over the Ibero-American Model Forest Network, and he is a member of CATIE’s graduate faculty.

Peruvian Forestry Engineer with a Masters in Silviculture and Natural Tropical Forest Management from CATIE.
He is the manager of the Ibero-American Model Forest Network and is on the graduate faculty at CATIE. He has extensive experience in natural forest management, community forestry processes and forest governance.

Leonel Coto
Research Assistant with extensive experience in the assembly, measurement and monitoring of field devices for research in tree genetic enhancement, silviculture and analysis of timber and non-timber species.

Vicente Herra
Parataxonomist with more than 20 years work experience in field research.
He provides technical assistance to researchers and students in CATIE’s master and doctoral programs. He has tremendous knowledge of tropical moist lowland forests and he is one of those responsible for the taxonomic identifications of plants in the department’s research.
Carol Valverde
Executive Secretary, graduate of the Colegio Universitario of Cartago, Costa Rica.
She works for the Finnfor Project and the Production and Conservation in Forests Program.

Jhenny Salgado
Colombian professional in Mathematics with an emphasis in Statistics and a graduate of the University of Tolima, Ibagué, Colombia. She obtained a master’s degree in Tropical Agroforestry at CATIE.
Salgado has served as a specialist in modeling and forest data analysis for the Finnfor project since 2010 and she is now coordinating Finnfor II project activities on timber value chains in Hojancha, Costa Rica.
