At CATIE’s Mexico NTO we strive to create innovative mechanisms and conservation initiatives to sustain natural resources and biodiversity. These are some of our projects.

Innovation. We develop the project for Innovative Mechanisms for a Cooperation Program Aimed at Climate Change Adaptation. The purpose of this project is to design and effectively implement a livestock management system based on ecosystems at the watershed level (integrated watershed management) on the Sierra Madrey coast of Chiapas. This project is implemented by CATIE’s Environmental Livestock Production Program (GAMMA).

Conservation. We work on initiatives to ensure the conservation of natural resources and biodiversity, promote economic development and improve the living conditions of a region highly vulnerable to climate change through the implementation of silvopastoral systems and best ranching practices. This project began in September 2012 and will run for four years.
